چکیده
We consider monopole-antimonopole static potential in the confining phase of the Abelian Higgs model and concentrate on the correction to the Coulomb-like potential at short distances r. By minimising numerically the classical energy functional we observe a linear in r correction so that a string-tension term survives even at distances much smaller than apparent physical scales. We argue that this term is a manifestation of the condition that the monopoles are connected by a line along which the vacuum is trivial. Possible implications for QCD are briefly discussed.

Within the (dual) Abelian Higgs model, confining strings do not disappear at small distances but rather become short strings. In compact 3D electrodynamics, as we argue here, the confining strings are also manifested at small distances in unusual power corrections, disobeying the standard rules of the Operator Product expansion. In the most interesting case of QCD, there is yet no derivation of...

Gauge vortex dynamics at finite mass of bosonic fields. Abstract The simple derivation of the string equation of motion adopted in the non-relativistic case is presented, paying the special attention to the effects of finite masses of bosonic fields of an Abelian Higgs model. The role of the finite mass effects in the evaluation of various topological characteristics of the closed strings is di...

Caianiello’s quantum geometrical model with maximal acceleration places the upper limit μ ≤ 719.5 GeV on the mass of the Higgs boson. The model also provides an equation linking the mass of the W boson to the Higgs mass μ and independent symmetry breaking and mass generating mechanisms. These may further restrict the value of μ.
